The Guerrilla Filmmaking Workshop is a digital video production and filmmaking crash course open to all students and professionals.Experience/background is not required. It offers an intensive, hands-on experience that gives the participants an opportunity to immerse themselves in the filmmaking process.

Workshop sessions include Story Development, Screenwriting, Directing, Cinematography, Editing, and Producing.

How To: Choose A Good Partner

The best way to choose a good partner is using your emotional intelligence!

1. Sexual attraction is based on a primitive and powerful feeling that can "hijack" us.

It comes from the reptilian brain and is automatic and powerful because it relates to our survival. It is not, in itself, a reason to act or react. Don’t let yourself get "hijacked." Take a second look; get up to your limbic brain (bonding, parenting, relationships) and your neocortex (thinking)for this important decision. More on this later.

2. Touching is very important to our mental and physical health.

Choose a partner who is affectionate, who likes to touch you and be touched.

3. Most communication is nonverbal.

Choose a partner who looks at you with affection and kindness in their eyes. Emotions are contagious and largely transmitted through the eyes!

4. Think as well as feel your way through this decision.

Emotional intelligence means using all 3 of your brains -- including the neocortex, the thinking brain. Contrary to what some people think, EQ doesn't mean "only emotions." It means thinking as well as feeling. Consider compatibility -- family background, values, goals, how he or she takes care of their physical and mental health. Consider general living style. The find-a-roommate-site asks just a few questions. Among them are -- drug use, when you like to get up and go to bed, your level of neatness, and how quiet you like it to be. Pay attention. You’ll be living with this person. Do use your intuition. It's a strong guide. Take advantage of it. If you need to develop your intuition, work with an EQ Coach or Intuition coach.

5. Consider the emotional self-awareness of your partner, and their awareness of your emotions; their ability at empathy.

Studies show that one of the most predictive traits for compatibility is if one partner is able to sense the sadness of the other.

6. How optimistic is this person ?

Optimism is the facilitator of all the emotional intelligence competencies. In addition, optimists live longer, enjoy better health, heal more quickly, and accomplish more. Emotions are contagious, and optimism is a forcefield you want in your life. It can be learned.

7. Be intentional and expect it in your partner.

Intentionality is an EQ competency that means saying what you mean and meaning what you say. It also means being accountable for the motives behind your actions. You’ll need to be in touch with this yourself, and have a partner who is as well, because partnering requires a commitment, i.e., Intentionality. Intentionality means you’re not "allowed" to say, "I didn’t mean to ..." High-level skill. Good one to look for.

8. Consider the level of your intended partner’s resilience.

You’ll be together a long time, through ups and downs, and life can throw some curves. How do they manage adverse events and setbacks? Do they bounce back eventually? Have they been able to grow through adversity, not just go through it?

9. How do you and your partner manage anger--your own anger and that of the other?

Studies show that the most successful couples are those who are able to soothe one another instead of agitating and escalating in an argument.

10. How balanced is their life?

Do they combine learning, working and leisure? Studies show that people who die in their 5th and 6th decade have this life trajectory: school, then work, then leisure. Resilient seniors combine all three during all stages of life. You'll want the one you love to be around a long time!

Ely Buendia Now In Stable Condition!

The Eraserheads Reunion is all over the radio and TV. I was shocked when I found out that Ely collapsed in the middle of the Reunion concert. I want to know the details on what actually happened to him despite of knowing that he had heart surgeries and heart attacks in the past. I'd like to share this article which gives detailed information on what really happened to Mr. Ely Buendia.

Ely Buendia is in stable condition and fans of the legendary Eraserheads frontman can now have a collective sigh of relief.

"He's ok. Please don't worry," assured Pupil co-manager Day Cabuhat to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in a short text message sent last August 30. Buendia was rushed to the Makati Medical center last August 30, after reportedly experiencing chest pains while in the middle of the Eraserheads' 20-minute break during the band's highly anticipated reunion concert held at the Fort Bonifacio Global City open field in Taguig City.

According to some of the accounts given by close friends who were present backstage, Buendia reportedly collapsed and had to be put on a stretcher. In a TV interview after the concert, bandmates Raimund Marasigan, Buddy Zabala, and Marcus Adoro said that they saw Buendia being attended by paramedics with his blood pressure being chacked. Minutes later, they saw the singer-song writer being rushed to an ambulance.

Without their main singer, the three remaining band members accompanied by Ely's sister, Lally, were left without no choice but to face the thousands of fans who were anxiously waiting for the second set. They announced the concert's cancellation and asked everyone to offer a minute of silence for Buendia.

Ely had gone through heart surgery early last year after suffering a heart attack in an out-of-town gig with his current band, Pupil. But his recent health dilemma was being linked to stress and fatigue factors. Two days before the reunion concert, Ely's mother, Lisette Buendia, passed away. That combined with all the stress and pressure leading to the actual concert apparently took its toll on the enigmatic frontman. Also, on the same day of the event, the Eraserheads went to the venue to conduct a sound check and a final rehersal which reportedly lasted until 3 a.m.

A close friend of the band theorized that Ely's unstable emotional state combined with the stress of having to deliver in front of rabid fans perhaps overwhelmed Buendia causing his health to breakdown in the face of gnawing pressure.

Buendía joined Marasigan, Adoro, and Zabala for a one-night only reunion show on August 30, 2008 at the Fort Open Field, Taguig City. The concert, however, was cut short after Ely collapsed due to emotional stress. They were already halfway of a planned 30-song setlist as Ely reportedly collapsed backstage during a break and was rushed to the Makati Medical Hospital. He was, however, reported to be in stable condition. Buddy had checked on Ely in his tent right after they went to their planned 20 minute break and saw that he already was on an oxygen mask with paramedics checking his blood pressure. As he left and came back, paramedics were already taking Ely on an ambulance. Bandmates Buddy, Raimund and Marcus further said that they had no idea that Ely was already having difficulty performing.

PEP reported that Buendia's sister, Lally, broke the news to the concert-goers at the Fort Bonifacio Global City Open Field.

When i feel down or whenever I'm sad, I listen to music. It makes me feel good and unwind. There are songs which brings back good and sad memories from the past. Sometimes you smile and laugh, sometimes it makes you cry. The best thing about it is that it makes you realize the things which you shouldn't and should have done. But keep in mind that we can never bring back the things that belongs from the past, instead look forward and face each new day with an open heart and by thanking God for all the experiences and blessings that came into our lives. Learn from our mistakes, don't make the same mistake again and always bring good memories to treasure. It's never too late to change, for change is always constant.

The songs that touches my heart are the songs from the freestyle, they are one of my all time favorite. I also love and admire the songs of Nikki Flores because I can really relate to it. How about you? What do you do whenever you're down? And what song touches your heart?

Yesterday, My sister and I watched the opening of Olympics through online streaming. I noticed the outfits of the people who participated in the Olympic parade. Last Sunday the FPS society held a sunrise photo shoot at punta Dumalag Pawikan Sanctuary. Everybody were so busy setting up their tripods and cameras waiting for the sun to come out. T'was a very fine morning with drizzles from the sky. I was quiet sitting beside Coicoi who is also preparing to have a nice shot of his own. When the sun popped out, I thought of God! Talked to him in my mind, thanking him for all the blessings he gave me, for the guidance and the strength that he gives me in every problem that I encounter. Yesterday I had the chance to spend time with coicoi despite of his hectic schedule in school and his work. He came to my house at 12 noon. We sat in the living room and watched a movie (Seven Samurai's, We had our merienda and decided to got out for a bonding time. So, we left home at about 7pm. Went to the mall and we did window shopping. It was my intention to bring him to the mens wear because Im planning to buy him a shirt or a polo shirt for our monthsary. Hehehehe tricky huh? at least I'll know what he likes and then buy it na lang for him... after window shopping we had a very sumptuous dinner and saw some of our fellow FPS friends. After the nice dinner we made a canvas on lenses, because we are planing to buy one. But we need to choose between the macro lens and the wide. hehehe then we finally decided to go home. I consider it a date because we had the chance to spend time with each other. I seldom see him this past few days because he is a very busy person, that's why if we have time I make sure we get to enjoy our time together and make it memorable. We'll we're both graduating this year and we're planning to treat our selves abroad after graduation Yehey can't wait for that time to come... well i hope we're still together by then... Anyway guys I need your help, what place could be really nice for a graduation vacation treat?

We Speak Your Language

Have you seen the videos on Dockers lately? One of the most interesting videos I saw was entitled “We Speak Your Language” by shd0728. I find it interesting because I think the video tries to portray the unity between different countries by showing us how the word “pants” can be said in many ways, particularly in different languages. The video shows/gave examples of the word pants on how it is used in each countries own language. The video tries to tell Its viewers how language is beautiful no matter which country you came from and wherever you may be.

This is an experimental film by my good friend Sherhon Dayoc, it is about a young boy's emotion as seen through his make-believe story. His story is about Galeno who struggles to survive in his everyday life by fetching water as a living near the mining site. His village is then caught in a mass paranoia where everyone is suspicious of a new comer in the village. This resulted in a killing phenomenon. No one knows who the person is until the stranger revealed himself to Galeno.

Hi! arrived home a few minutes ago, Coicoi just left. I'm so tired but everything is worth it. I spent the whole day with my sweety, Hannah (his sister), and Grandma. This afternoon we had a "Merienda" (Snack) in the garden while enjoying a very nice conversation. After having our merienda, me and Coicoi played PS2 (He always win the game huhuhuhu). Then, I had a short nap on my sweety's lap while he was massaging my head. I woke up smelling the aroma of the food grandma was cooking. When dinner was ready, I couldn't help myself and ate plenty because the food was really great and delicious.

After dinner since everybody was full, me and Coicoi decided to rest before going home. My sweety laid on my lap and kept on saying that he love's me. So sweet hehehehe... After watching the Pinoy Big Brother, I bid goodbye to Hannah and Grandma. Coicoi brought me home. I had a great day and had the chance to spend y whole day with my sweety and his loved ones. Well that's it, Just sharing ahehehehe...

I forgot to buy a gift for my sweety, tomorrow is our monthsary! waaaa! I should buy one before he arrives. I wonder what gift would be nice for him? Hmmmm... Well, I'm getting sleepy! Late this evening when my boyfriend left, I checked my email. To my surprise, a guy named Paul Velasco messaged me. It goes exactly like this:

"Hey! Why are you so selfish? You post your friendster email on your shout out box and telling us to visit it and yet to keep it in private. We don't have the privilege to view and enjoy your page to the full extent! If you are not going to make it for public viewing better not share it to us!". Oh well, what can I say to this Paul Velasco? Why do I set my friendster in private? Because somehow, I'd like to avoid the people who will copy and claim my photos as theirs. Whole day Photo shoot!

The future bride, future groom and their good friend Flordy

Yesterday morning at about 7am, me and my boyfriend went to SM City Davao. We were invited by Flordy (Coicoi's officemate and friend) for a pre-nuptial/pre-wedding photo shoot. The husband to be is the operations manager of SM and Karen the future bride is working in Singapore and came back here to get married.

We have the authority to enter the Mall and were greeted by the employees. Some thought we're owners of the mall. Some were curious how we got in knowing that business hours starts at 10am.

The future bride and husband were at first very shy to pose for us, so I directed their poses and made a good relationship with them so that they won't be shy. They were very nice couple and were able to obtain their own poses. When the mall was already open for customers, they became shy again and were somewhat hesitant to pose because people were staring at them heheheh...

Since we had enough shots, we call it a day. While we were packing our things and gadgets, the future wife and husband invited us for lunch. So, we left SM City Davao and had lunch at Gerry's Grill. After having lunch, we showed them the photos and we were so glad that they love it!

After having dinner with Flordy and the couple, we went to the office to rest. We left at 3pm and went to Coffee Monster to have a snack. 1. A man won’t let go if he really loves you.

Do not hold on to someone who has let go of you. He does not love you and does not value having you. Believe me, he will not let go if he really loves you. There is another reason he is not willing to tell.

2. Do not look for reasons why he ended the relationship.

There is only one reason why he ended your relationship. He just does not love you. Do not waste your time thinking of reasons or what you should have done. Move on and be open to a man who will truly love you.

3. Do not get hang up on your past.

Do not nag or distrust your current boyfriend just because your ex hurt you. Do not treat him or the relationship the same way. Do not compare. He will not react the same way as your ex. Do not be worried that your simple mistakes will cause him to look for another girl. What happened with your ex was not your fault. It was not because you didn’t guard him enough or you didn’t make him happy enough.

4. Do not look into images.

How many times have you met a girl who didn’t have the best image in school or at the office, but you get to know the girl and found out she was actually extremely nice? Do not rely on images. Oftentimes, it is far from reality. Do not fear men just because your “supposedly” perfect ex-boyfriend mistreated you.

5. Always have your own set of rules.

Set your limits on how far you’d go for a guy. It’s perfectly ok to give and do everything as long as it’s worth it. And it’s worth it if the guy is treating you right.

6. Do not be scared to lose him.

Don’t be scared that he’ll break up with you. Once you are afraid of losing him, you easily can be taken advantage. Be strong and if something is unacceptable, do not accept it and speak up.

7. Avoid calling your guy.

It’s a guy thing. The relationship will definitely be better if it’s the guy who’s calling, not the girl. He will get tired of you if you keep on calling. He will lose interest and challenge. More so, he will get annoyed. But it’s a girl thing also that your fingers get too itchy until you dial his number. But avoid as much as possible. Call only if really needed (like checking if your suspicions are reasonable).

8. There is a guy who will value you.

There is a guy out there who can make you feel valued, appreciated, and loved. And I mean, not just during your first few weeks together. So don’t lose hope. Don’t settle for a lesbian if you are not attracted to women. There is a man out there who can love you like a girl can.

Also, do not believe him when he says it’s just the way he really is. He’s not the sweet or expressive-type. Remember during your first few weeks together? Where has that sweet guy gone? He simply is not that into you anymore.

9. Always be the only one, no matter what.

Do not ever fall for a guy who has another girl, be it his wife, girlfriend, or any girl that he says he just can’t get rid of for whatever reason. If you truly believe that he loves you and for some reason, he can’t leave or let go of another girl, then you are no different from any ordinary mistress.

10. He must respect you.

No matter how long the relationship has been, he should always show respect towards you.

11. If he fooled you, end it.

This afternoon I was searching for interesting documentaries about children on Youtube because I want to come up with a short story for another filmmaking project proposal to my boyfriend (Micromedia Production Film Director). This video really touched my heart. I am so sad and heartbroken when I saw the video.

This video was posted by a guy named Parccruz. The video shows the pictures of the Aeta natives living in Mt. Pinatubo, Pampanga. According to Parccus, this Natives used to live within the surrounding of the volcano. When Mt. Pinatubo erupted in the early 90's leaving a catastrophic effect, the natives were forced to come down. They refused to adapt urban ways of living and came back to Mt Pinatubo and continue to live in poverty.

They face racism and discrimination. I wonder what the government is doing to help them save from poverty? or does the government extend help to these people? If you will look on the reality side, No one seem to give attention to them and they are poorly treated by our own government. They badly need our help!

The reason why I am posting this video here is for you to see it and make you realize that you are luckier than other people. After seeing the video, you might want to help save them from poverty just like the way I do.

Me and my boyfriend went window shopping when suddenly Sharon, our friend texted us and asking where we were. Since we're already tired of roaming around the mall, we replied and told her that we will visit her in her house.

When we arrived, Sharon and her neighbor friend Nan were playing poker. I've heard a lot about poker but sad to say I don't know how to play it. So, since Sharon and Nan were good poker players, I took the chance of asking them to teach me how to play it. After a few hours, Sharon and Nan's friends came. They played poker while me and Coicoi were just watching and learning how it is played. Hmmmm it seems easy! hehehe but I guess I need to learn more and practice more before I get to join them and gamble with them... YaYks!

Last April 26 this year, our film documentary workshop held a forum with Mr. Aureus Solit, our guest speaker with regards to Cultural Identities In Documentary Films. His documentary film entitled "Basal Banar" (Sacred Ritual of Truth) was showed for film viewing.

The documentaryl film "Basal Banar", was selected in the International Competition of the Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival in Japan. Considered by filmmakers as the Olympics of Docu-Festivals. There were 902 entries this year, and the film was one of the 15 chosen for the competition (the other films are from Russia,France, Germany,Italy USA, Argentina,Israel, Taiwan, China, Greece etc.).

For Mr. Aureaus it was the fruition of years of struggle to perfect his craft and find the right material that will do justice to his roots as an Indigenous person. In a message he sent to his friends and colleagues Aries said that "This is a Dream come true, a gift from the universe". He sees the exhibition and participation of the film as the start of the international advocacy for indigenous rights in Palawan, Philippines. To him, "everything starts in this festival!"

After the film viewing, the participants were given the chance to ask questions and informations to Mr. Aureus Solito. Questions frequently asked was about how the shots were taken in the documentary film, how Mr. Aureus interacted and built a relationship with his interviewees, why he came up with the idea of making a film documentary about his own tribe and a lot more.

All the participants including me had learned a lot of things from him with regards to experimental film documentaries. The limitations and the requirements in making such a deocumentary. Thanks to Mr. Aureus Solito!

Biryani Chicken @ Majid's Persian Kabab!

Majid's Persian Kabab is located at Rizal Street Davao city. My first time to try Majid's kabab was a month ago when my boyfriend Coicoi wants me to try the best kabab in town. We ordered beef and chiken kabab. They really taste good with the hot and spicy sauce. The kababs are cooked on a metal skewer and then served with a grilled tomato and a pita bread. The kababs are very affordable ranging from 25 php to 30 php.

Yesterday, I want to go back there for dinner to try their Biryani rice. So, after hanging around with friends, my boyfriend and I went to Majid's persian Kabab. We ordered Biryani Chicken. While enjoying our dinner I was wondering what ingredients were used. I wanted to have a recipe of it and try to cook it at home. When we got home, i searched through the net where Biryani rice originated and what ingredients are needed for cooking. I found out thet Biryani is derived from the Persian word beryā(n) which means "fried" or "roasted". There are many kinds of biryanis and each kind has a uniqueness about it. Pre-mixed biryani spices from different commercial names are easily available in markets these days, which reduces the preparation time though the taste differs considerably.

The spices and condiments used in biryani are what primarily contribute to the taste, these are generally cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, wasabi, bay leaves, coriander and mint leaves, apart from ghee, ginger, onions, garlic and yoghurt. The premium varieties include saffron. For a non-vegetarian biryani, the main ingredient that accompanies the spices is the meat—beef, chicken, goat, lamb, or shrimp, though vegetable biryani varieties are also popular. An Expensive Dinner Date

Afternoon of April 23rd, me and Sharon were eating at Mc Donalds when a guy approached me and gave me a dozen white flowers. I checked the card and to my surprise it was from my sweety. I had teary eyes and I felt like a star because people were staring at me. After a few minutes, my boyfriend came and hugged me. He asked me if he could bring me to a place where I haven't been yet, I answered yes. He told Sharon that he will bring me for a dinner. So, we left Sharon and went to Sarung Banggi Restaurant, a romantic place for a dinner date. The waiter came and gave us the menu. I was shocked to see the prices! I was so shy to order, but then my boyfriend told me to order whatever I want. So since he seldom give surprises, I ordered a sizzling steak hmmm yummy! And he ordered Teriyaki steak. The food was expensive, but it's worth it. They are so delicious and mouthwatering! I love you sweety! That was the best dinner date ever! mwah.

Tomorrow is a special day! My boyfriend and I will be celebrating our first year anniversary. Before going to his office, I went to the mall early this afternoon and looked for the book entitled "Trip To Quiapo" by Ricky Lee. The book is actually a scriptwriting manual. Since he is a film director, I want him to have a copy of it for him to enhance his skills and knowledge in directing films as well as in scriptwriting. The other book is entitled "True Grit" by Debora Meroff. The story is about the problems, struggles and experiences of 9 different women in different countries. He loves books, poems and short stories, I hope He'll like the gifts!

If I would be given a chance to be the ruler of the world, I think I would be the happiest person and I'll have to be a good model and a little bit strict but not mean and greedy so that my followers will do things as I say and obey me. Being the ruler of the world, i will not abuse my authority.

I feel so down and sad last night. I had a petty argument with my boyfriend. Though we had a lot of things in common, we sometimes have misunderstandings. Entering into a relationship means that you should be ready to love and be loved, to trust, to change and adjust, be strong in every trials and problems that you will encounter, but mostly be ready to get hurt. When you love, you should accept the fact that love is always accompanied by hurt or pain.

I couldn't concentrate on updating my post, I'm in deep sadness and so confused then realized that instead of updating posts I was like searching for sad quotes and poems. Some touched my heart, some made me realize about how my relationship with my boyfriend is going on. This one caught my attention. But does this give a message for me? Is it a clue? I'm in total confusion. I know there's no such thing as a perfect relationship, all I've ever wanted was to make him happy, satisfied and take good care of him but why does it seem to fall for the wrong side? Why does it seem to fall into pieces? I think we both need space and time for ourselves. I Still Love My Coicoi, hope things will be OK. If not now, maybe soon as long as it wont be too late before we get to patch things up.

LOST

I was never one to patiently pick up broken fragments and glue them together again and tell myself that the mended whole was as good as new.What is broken is broken- and I'd rather remember it as it was at its best than mend it and see the broken places as long as I lived.

Love is strong yet delicate. It can be broken. To truly love is to understand this. To be in love is to respect this. To love somebody who doesn't love you, is like going to a temple and worshiping the behind of a wooden statue ... of a hungry devil. When we are in love we often doubt that which we most believe.

April 13, the second day of the film documentary workshop! I'm so excited because Teng Mangansakan will be the speaker for the day. The topic will be about the elements of script writing and the importance of the script. I woke up late, i needed to hurry up so I wont miss his lectures. When i arrived, I'm glad that Teng hasn't started yet. They were having a film viewing.

After the film viewing, Teng opened the floor for questions And started discussing about what a script is, importance of script and the elements of script. Everybody was participating in the activities and was able to come up with nice ideas. but, some were getting sleepy and Teng hd been very patient and continued discussing. hehehehe...

April 12, It was the first day of the film documentary workshop. I was still sleepy when my boyfriend woke me up. Sharon, our friend was also still sleepy but we needed to prepare because we don't want to be late for the workshop. So we took a bath, dressed up, ate a quick breakfast and went to the IIPE where the workshop will be held.

When we arrived, we met participants from other places in Mindanao. Some were from Kidapawan and the others from Tagum. While waiting for the guest speaker, Teng showed us the Film Documentary of Mr. Dominic Morissette the "Afghan Chronicles". I was so amazed about how he did the film documentary. I was so excited to meet him and to ask him some questions.

After a few minutes, Mr. Dominic arrived. He was smiling and was happy to see that almost all of the participants were so interested in film documentary and were young. He discussed to us the difference of film and documentary. He explained why he did the documentary in Afghanistan and how he did the documentary. He entertained our questions and we were satisfied with his answers and was able to learn a lot from him.

We had a lot of fun and had the chance to take some pictures with him!

Mr. Dominic Morissette - "Afghan Chronicles"

Dominic Morissette trained as a photographer and fell in love with filmmaking in the early 1990s.

This inveterate cinematographer travels the globe to make documentaries inspired by an ethnologist’s respect for the world’s cultures. In 2003 his film Les derniers chasseurs du petit havre about the fishermen of Nova Scotia, co-directed with Catherine Pappas, won a Jutra nomination for best documentary.

He then spent long periods in Afghanistan giving video and photography workshops in addition to co-ordinating the communications campaign for candidates in the presidential election of 2004. His travels and his interest in environmental issues then took him to Pakistan, to the Indus delta. In 2005 he was in Yemen, organizing more workshops.

In February 2007, in Montreal, he presented an exhibition of photos from his many travels in Afghanistan. Like all his work, the documentary "Afghan Chronicles" is a fusion of his artistic approach and his social commitment.

Unlimited Rice Please...

DAVAO City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte assured the public that there is no rice shortage yet in Davao City.

April 13, Duterte in his famous Sunday program aired over a local national TV network said that he would surely prevent traders from transporting the supply of rice out of the city.

The mayor added there is no need for people to hoard and that is exactly what the government is trying to prevent from happening with the imposition of limits on the purchase of NFA rice.

The mayor remains optimistic that the shortage of rice will not be felt in the city due to the extra supply of National Food Authority (NFA) rice.

“If there will be shortage I assure the people that in a soonest time possible it will return to normalcy", said Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

If there are calls to limit the servings of rice in food chains, not in Davao city where "unlimited rice" is still being offered at restaurants or at an “eat-all-you-can” promo.

Philippine farmers warned Wednesday that the country was facing a serious rice supply crisis, as the government signed a deal to import rice from Vietnam to boost local reserves at a time of rising prices and shrinking global stocks.

"The traders will definitely take advantage of the limited supply, while the government will be dependent on the imported rice for its buffer stock," said Jimmy Tadeo from the National Rice Farmers' Council .

The Philippines consumes about 13.1 million tons of rice annually, most of which is grown domestically. But dwindling domestic production and corruption in the rice supply chain have created a recurrent shortfall of about 10 percent. The government has to purchase about 2.2 million tons from the international market every year, making the Philippines the world's biggest rice importer.

The government plans to increase local production by planting an additional 1.5 million acres of rice during the rainy season in the country's 10 poorest provinces and another 1.2 million acres in other provinces.

After dropping by Alchemy of Vision and Light, we headed for the Mix FM for the program Viewfinder where Ayyi and some of the Beam staffs will be guesting. The topic was about the projects of BEAM and techniques, materials and modules for teaching. The program took 1 hour and 40 minutes, there were still a lot of things to be tackled but the time is short.

While Ayyi and the Beam stuffs were having their talk show, me and Fern were taking pictures at Basti's Brew beside the FM station. When the program ended, everybody decided to eat at Dimsum Dinners. After that, me and my boyfriend went home already while Fern and Ayyi went to MTS and met Teng.

After the christening party of our friend's daughter, me and my sweety went to meet up with our teammates in the production at Picobello's for pizza. On our way to Picobello's, we met Ayyi at the elevator,. We ordered 2 flavors of pizza since Picobello's has a buy one take one promo on pizzas. Then Sharon and Fern suddenly came and ordered another pizza. We had a nice time with each other. We took pictures and had jokes. It was one of the best times with friends. We left the place with our tummies full...

OoOOpssss! The fun never stop! When we left Picobello's, Ayyi asked us if we could accompany her at MIX FM because she and some of the BEAM Boss will be guesting in a talk show. But since it was still early, the group decided to go and drop by AVL or Alchemy of Vision and Light the Davao Production House. Unfortunately, it was closed. So, we wasted time by taking pictures along the road and headed to Mix FM station.

Early this morning i was still so sleepy when the alarm rang. It's our friend Sly's daughter Arriane's christening day! I had a light breakfast and took a bath. I hurriedly dressed up because my boyfriend was down stairs already waiting for me. He doesn't wanna be late because he will be Arriane's Godfather. And so, we went to the church where the baby is said to be baptized then we went to their house and had lunch.

After having lunch, Sly and his wife offered us beers. Everybody in the group was getting drunk, so I asked my boyfriend to stop drinking before he gets drunk. My boyfriend said that he was feeling a little bit tipsy already, so we had to get going. Our friend Ayyi invited the whole teammates in the production for Pizza at Picobello's. So, we left and went to meet up with our teammates.

Yesterday, I got home at 9:30 pm. Since I'm not yet sleepy, I turned on the computer and watched film documentaries through Youtube to learn more about it for the up coming film documentary workshop. While searching for more documentaries, I suddenly saw a very interesting link of a video entitled "Mga Batang Kayod Kalabaw"By i Witness. I don't know what I felt while I was watching it. The documentary was about Child labor, deforestation, and bribery. Those kids were supposed to be in school, not working! Should we blame their parents or the Government? Just want to share 1 surprise that i made for my boyfriend. Early one morning i needed to go to Kuya Mac's office for my project presentation. I was there all alone the whole morning, I was doing my project at the same time Chatting with my boyfriend. We decided to have lunch together and asked him to fetch me in the office. Before lunch came, I made a surprise for him. I made a short video clip and posted something on the white board.

At noon time, i heard a knock on the door. It was him! Instead of letting him in, i asked him to blindfold himself. When he got inside the office, i played the video clip and took off his blindfold. He cried when he saw the video clip and the things i wrote on the white board. I'm so happy i put a smile on his face... He said he was surprised and he loves it! Oh I love you sweety!

My Boyfriend's good friend Teng Mangansakan II, will be conducting a Film Documentary Workshop starting April 12 in Davao City. The Workshop will hold classes and lectures during weekends of April (April 12-13, 19-20 and 26-27). Documentary projects will be produced on May. These documentaries will be screened during the 1st Salam Mindanao International Film Festival later this year.

Canadian filmmaker Dominic Morrissette (Afghan Chronicles) will be the guest speaker of the Workshop.Morrissette is the director of Afghan Chronicles.

Regular registration is PhP1,800 but early birds will have a discounted registration of PhP1,500. Students will enjoy a further reduced PhP1,200 registration.

It was Thursday when I visited my boyfriend in his brother's office. We both have no classes during that time. We stayed there the whole afternoon playing PS2 when he suddenly became hungry, He asked me what i want for snack I said i don't know anything will do. He wanted to have pizza which is our favorite, but it will take time for the order to come so he went out and bought Hotdog burgers. When he came back, the rain suddenly fall. His brother can't come to the office because of the heavy rain. So, we ate and played PS2 the whole afternoon till evening while waiting for his brother to come. It turned out to be a date because we talked and had fun with each other. Just sharing, it's another day of spending time alone with each other. I love my boyfriend so much!

The Araw ng Dabaw (Davao Day) has evolved into a celebration of the Davaoeños’ oneness. It is a vibrant feast held every March 16 and together with the Kadayawan, ranks as Davao City's biggest annual event.

Before March 16 came, I told my boyfriend that I'd like to witness the Float parade. He didn't want me to go because according to him there will be a lot of people on the street and i might get lost. He can't watch over me because he will be on the street as well because he will be taking pictures. He doesn't want to leave me alone with the crowed, he wont be able to concentrate in taking pictures for he will be worrying about me. So i decided to stay home and watch the Araw ng Dabaw Celebration on TV.

I missed the parade but at least I know and understand that my boyfriend doesn't want anything bad to happen to me. Well i guess I'll have to bring a companion next time. And besides,just by looking at my boyfriend's shots and watching TV made me feel as if i was one of those people in the crowed.

Me and my boyfriend want to watch the movie "300", which according to our friends is a must seen movie. So since we both don't have classes, we've decided to go and watch the movie. We went to NCCC mall and bought our tickets, but it's too early for the next showing. We both were thinking of having pizza before going to the cinema since it's too early for the next showing.

We went to Pizza Hut and ordered our favorite family sized stuffed crust pizza. When our order came, some people were looking at us and I find it so annoying. I went to the bathroom and checked if there's a dirt on my face, but there was nothing. My boyfriend was so neat so they can't be staring at him. My boyfriend smiled and told me that maybe they were thinking if we could eat the whole thing. Hahahaha... they just don't know we can have whole family sized pizza each. We just love eating pizza so much!

It's Sunday, and instead of staying home to rest for the up coming busy week, my boyfriend asked me to accompany him in the park to practice photography using his new lens. When we arrived, he took pictures of me before he started taking pictures of anything he can see there. He got nice shots of kids and family. GETTING READY TO SLEEP

After my class my boyfriend fetched me, instead of eating out we decided to go home early and have dinner in my place. On our way home, we saw these kids getting ready to sleep. My boyfriend wanted to take pictures of them for his Photography site, so i asked the kids if they could be so kind to let us take some pictures of them both, and fortunately they agreed. After my boyfriend took pictures, he showed it to them. The two kids smiled on their pictures.

While my boyfriend was taking their picture, i asked them questions and i found out that they don't have a home. They live on side walks and ask people money for food. Here in the Philippines there are three categories of street children: children on the streets, children of the streets and completely abandoned children. And these two children belongs to the "Children of the Street" category wherein, they see the streets as their home and from where they seek income, food and shelter. They recreate a sort of family among their companions. They may have some family connections but they regard these ties as bad and rarely visit their families.

How i wish our City Mayor can do something about them. If i am rich, I'll put up a charity home for this kids and give them free schooling.

TAKEN AT HIS WORK PLACE. ALA LOMO

My boyfriend just bought his camera a month ago. Now, he wants to try doing Lomography Photography which is a snapshot photography. Accidents are not created on purpose by the photographer, they just occur as a result of the camera’s tendency to oversaturate colors, clutter the image with noise, and over/underexpose shot. He is planing to buy a Lomo camera which i disagreed because he just bought the 400D canon.

I encouraged him not to because he can have a semi lomography shot if only he'll practice without buying another cam. I told him i love his shots and asked him to improve much because he is getting better and better. And because of that, i made him happy and was able to put a smile on his face. I know he will be challenged and will explore more about the effects and possible angles in taking picture. Good Luck sweety!

People's park was the former PTA Ground. It features a mini rain forest, public areas for jogging and tai chi and the like. It has a playground where your kids can have fun. The park is also equipped with CCTV cameras. According to our city Mayor, the cameras were to keep the premises secure, and to prevent “illicit activities” inside the park. Accenting the surrounding are statues by Mr. Kublai Millan a proud Dabawenyo artist. This newly reopened park is located in the heart of downtown area. The park adds to Davao City’s tourism attractions and public recreation areas! For Dabawenyo's, it is something to be proud of.

I was so busy in my laboratory class and with so much to do, I was getting hungry. When my class finally ended, I rushed out of the school and saw my boyfriend waiting for me just in front of the school campus. I told him that i was hungry, so he asked me what i want to eat. I didn't want a heavy meal because it's too early for dinner. We decided to have a snack at Dunkin Donuts, it is one of our favorite snacks. We ordered our favorite donut which is choco wacko. I think I ate 4 pieces of it while my boyfriend ate only 2 pieces. Because of hungriness, I forgot about dieting that time. Can you imagine how much carbohydrates and calories a choco coated donut contains? Ack, but it's ok. At least i was full. After that, I skipped dinner...

This afternoon, me and my boyfriend stayed at the Micromedia Production Editing Office with his brother. We played PS2 while his brother was editing a wedding video. At about 7pm, we decided to have dinner at Chowking (a fastfood chain). After eating, we went to the park. They want to have a walk since we're so full.

At the park, me and my boyfriend had the chance to talk about our dreams and plans for the future. His brother was taking pictures of anything that he finds interesting. The picture above was one of his shots. Me and my boyfriend hadn't notice him taking our picture because we were so busy talking to each other. Thanks to Mac Mac for this picture! I love it!
